Magically Fated Pairs: Yay or Nay?

I've been thinking a lot about magically connected mates in romance lately, in part because Leah and Drake share a "magical" connection in The Shift Series, but also just because it's a lot of fun to read (and maybe even more fun to write!) But why? Why is it so satisfying to read about two … Continue reading Magically Fated Pairs: Yay or Nay?

The Romance of Firsts

I've been thinking about young love a lot lately as I get The Shift Series ready to come out of hiatus (stay tuned for more on that in next week's post!) Specifically, I've been thinking about what makes stories of young love so enchanting. And here's my hot take: It's not really about the age … Continue reading The Romance of Firsts

Reset

I've been really trying to take time at the beginning of my work time each day to pause and reset my brain. I fly through the morning and beginning of the afternoon in total mom-mode (maybe you know it?) and then, when it's time to sit down and shift gears into author-mode, I'm so grateful … Continue reading Reset

"A sexy, spellbinding romance...weaving a tale of love in the midst of darkness."

Kat Turner, author of The Coven Daughters Series
You ever accomplish something big and then not take a second to realize, let alone celebrate it? Dark Matter Coffee at Do-Rite Donuts. Dude. This is a damn good nitro cold brew for this coffee-loving Seattleite This has been such an incredible, exhausting, restorative weekend. My creative well is full, I’ve met some truly kind and smart-as-hell women (too many to tag here, but if you see this, I mean you!) and gotten to see a bit of a city I’d never stepped foot in before. This was everything I needed. Funny story: The hubby and I went on vacation with our best friends (who happen to be married to each other!) a couple of weeks back and we had the best time! On this day, we were in Epcot and we walked out of a store (in Italy), and suddenly heard the unmistakable sounds of @blueoctoberband which happens to be one of our fave all time bands. So that’s how I saw Blue October for the third time, by surprise, at DisneyWorld. It was a truly incredible trip. HAPPY APRIL! Can you believe Q1 is over? 🤯 Was it a good quarter for you? It was an impactful one for me! THE CLOAKED SHADOW PAPERBACKS ARE LIVE AND THEY’RE BEAUTIFUL! I was in Post Alley with one of my readers-turned-friend, @themrsryan2016 and we happened upon this coffee joint. How awesome does this place look? It was already closed for the day, but now I have another reason to head into Seattle soon. The fam and I have been doing a lot of hiking lately (when the weather allows—we’re very PNW but driving rain even keeps us inside 😅) and it’s been a lot of fun to get out and explore. I recently made the self-discovery that adventures are my “why”. They don’t have to be big adventures, but the opportunity to have new experiences is the reason I do everything I do. So here we are embracing that! It’s amazing what a weekend away with my author besties can do for my mental health and sense of peace. These women are some of the smartest, most talented, and compassionate people I know and I can’t wait to see all they accomplish! On top of it all, I got six days worth of writing done in two. Can’t get better than that ❤️
