Indie Bookstore Day

April 25th was Indie Bookstore Day, and I celebrated it by signing books at Shelf Indulgence, Tacoma’s only Romance-focused indie bookstore!

๐Ÿ‘† My table at the signing, me in Shelf Indulgence, and the book I bought after my signing was done–Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea, by Rebecca Thorne. I can’t wait to read it!

It has been a long time since I felt bookish. For those of you who don’t know, my other (my primary!) job is running a patient-advocacy non-profit for people with a very rare condition called CLOVES Syndrome. It’s fulfilling work, but it can be very heavy. I set most of author life down about six months ago because I couldn’t manage to juggle both author life and non-profit leadership life–both in terms of time, and energetically.

You’ll see me disappear like that from time to time. It’s not you, it’s me–literally. I gotta hibernate and deal with the heavy stuff sometimes.

When I launched Grimoire Cafe (this blog) last spring, I had just left social media in terms of posting, but I hadn’t stopped scrolling completely. Well, as of last week, I took Facebook and Instagram off my phone! I feel lighter already. And I’m hoping that will make room for more blog posts, more writing, and more bookish-me in general.

I’ve started sending an email to my newsletter subscribers most weeks (my goal is 3 out of 4 weeks each month, and so far I’m 4 for 4!) If you would like little notes sent to your inbox, feel free to subscribe here! I’m hoping to get the Grimoire Cafe back up and running again soon, too. Tini took a little sabbatical, but she should return home soon, ready to start making her signature coffees again.

Comment and let me know how you’ve been!
