While I’m writing, I have every detail of each house and space fairly well mapped out in my head. I often have color-palates and materials chosen as well (otherwise, how could Leah describe what she’s seeing?) Often, I do a rough sketch of the floor plan to make sure it flows and I’m not describing impossible things. Usually, however, those sketches are very rough. In this case, I sat down one day and drew a much more clean, detailed version of Cecelia’s house because it’s such an important part of both SHIFT and RECAST. Hopefully this helps give you a good idea of what Leah is talking about as she describes different parts of the books. And, hopefully, I did an okay job describing it and none of this comes as a huge surprise. 🙂 Enjoy!
